The Southwest Women’s Law Center works on a variety of policy and legal issues, but takes only a few individual court cases. We can consult with you and attempt to assist in finding an attorney for you in specific areas:
- If you are facing gender discrimination at work or at school
- If you are a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault and need assistance getting time off from work because of the violence
- If a medical provider refuses to provide family planning or reproductive health services to you
- If you are a student and have been subject to sexual harassment or abuse at school
We are NOT able to assist you in obtaining protective orders if you are a victim of domestic violence or with matters involving family law, including child support and child custody.
If you need an attorney or help with a legal problem, call:
LAW ACCESS NEW MEXICO – they provide legal assistance via a telephone helpline for low-income New Mexicans. They should also be able to refer you to another agency if they cannot assist you. Call weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spanish, English, other languages
