In order to ensure that women’s healthcare concerns are addressed in the process of national reform, the Southwest Women’s Law Center collaborates with Raising Women’s Voices (RWV), a national initiative aimed at creating affordable healthcare for all. RWV works by engaging a broad array of women's health advocates in local, state and national health reform discussions. In the spring of 2009, SWLC signed on to a coalition letter to members of Congress urging them to ensure that healthcare reform measures adopted by Congress include comprehensive healthcare for women, including comprehensive reproductive health services.
The letter stated that, “…a comprehensive healthcare reform plan that improves women’s access to affordable, quality healthcare, including comprehensive reproductive health services, is therefore essential to improving the health of women, families and communities.”
